Rules 26 and 34

The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure govern the conduct of civil actions brought in Federal district courts. Rules 26 and 34 govern discovery and disclosure of information relevant to the civil actions. In 1993, Rule 26 was amended substantially to accelerate the exchange of information.

Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act - Background

The Privacy or Consumer Financial Information Rule of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act requires that financial institutions take steps to ensure the security and confidentiality of their customers' non-public, personal information. Heightened concern from consumers regarding how financial institutions protect and use their personal information, as well as the harm caused by "identity theft" has led the federal government to create mandates such as this in order to prevent the disclosure of private information.
